Approach
My approach is person-centered, and strength based. Through the lens of curiosity and learning, we focus on internal strengths and resourcefulness, and less on weaknesses, failures, and shortcomings. Through this lens, children, adolescents and adults take more of a lead in discussions so that, in the process, they will discover their own solution. Using this strength-based approach we focus on solution-building rather than problem-solving.
Psychoeducation
Teach about the brain-body connection. Learning how anxiety manifests physical, unpredictable, and often invisible ways. Learn how to use emotions as data.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Focuses on how thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect feelings and actions, and seeks to change those unhelpful patterns.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Combines elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help with regulating emotion through distress tolerance and mindfulness.
Mindfulness
Observe sensations, thoughts, and feelings in order to choose a reaction instead of acting impulsively.
Play Therapy
Utilizes play, children's natural medium of expression, to help them express their feelings more easily through toys instead of words.
